Neelkanth Mahadev Temple is dedicated to Nilkanth, which is an avatar of Lord Shiva. The temple is located at an elevation of 1330 meters at about a distance of 39 km from Rishikesh. This sacred temple is believed to be the place where Lord Shiva consumed the poison that emerged out of the Samudra Manthana, as a result of which his throat turned blue.
